In 2018, a total of 1683 cases of imported malaria were reported in the UK. This included six malaria deaths, all from P. falciparum acquired in Africa. The majority of UK malaria cases were reported in England with a total of 1597 cases, 52 cases were reported in Scotland, 23 in Wales and 11 in Northern Ireland.
