Self-Care Factsheet

The Self Care Forum have created a factsheet to help people practice self-care. The factsheet called ‘The POWER of Self Care’ aims to give people the power to take control of their lives. POWER stands for personal wellbeing, out and about exercise, weight awareness, eating and diet and risks and prevention. It gives advice on how to begin exercising, how to look after your mental health and provides guidance on weight management and healthy eating. https://www.selfcareforum.org/the-power-of-self-care/

Royal College of Nursing managing stress resource

RCN members, reps and staff have worked in collaboration to produce resources to help nursing professionals cope with and manage their stress. The resources cover how to spot the signs and symptoms of stress as well as providing strategies and support for those that are experiencing it. Advocacy services for adults with health and social care needs

New National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidance covering advocacy for people using health and social care services in all adult settings (including young people under 18 using adult services) has been published. It describes how to commission and deliver effective advocacy, as well as identifying who should be offered advocacy (including who is legally entitled to it). It also covers monitoring and improving advocacy services, and training and skills for advocates and practitioners. https://www.nice.org.uk/guidance/ng227

Health inequalities

All Our Health have published a bite-sized session to give health professionals an overview of health disparities and health inequalities including key evidence, data and signposting to trusted resources to help prevent illness, protect health and promote wellbeing. https://portal.e-lfh.org.uk/Component/Details/778744

New anti-racism resource for NHS health professionals

NHS England in partnership with NHS Confederation and the Nursing and Midwifery Council have produced a resource that supports professionals working in the NHS to combat racism. The ‘Combatting racial discrimination against minority ethnic nurses, midwives and nursing associates’ resource provides advice on the action you can take if you witness or experience racism. It also includes practical examples and tools to help nurses and midwives discuss, explore and challenge racism safely and effectively. It also supports those in leadership roles to be inclusive leaders.
