Best practice standards on menopause care

The Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare has collaborated with a number of organisations, including the British Menopause Society and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, to create the new standards for menopause care in line with current national and international guidelines and recommendations. The 11 standards provide a consistent approach to clinical care and, as a result, will help women access evidence-based advice to optimise their menopause transition.

Diabetes diagnosis and management in children

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence has published updated clinical guidelines on the diagnosis and management of type 1 and type 2 diabetes in children and young people aged under 18. The guideline recommends how to support children and young people and their families and carers to maintain tight control of blood glucose to reduce the long-term risks associated with diabetes.

Flu vaccination for children: posters and leaflets

The UK Health Security Agency has published information and promotional resources to support the 2022 to 2023 annual flu vaccination programme, including a poster and parent information leaflet. These are also available in wide range of languages.

NMC consultation on educational standards

The Nursing and Midwifery Council are holding a consultation that will give everyone the opportunity to have their say on proposed changes to education programme standards. The proposals include increasing flexibility around simulated learning for nurses, and giving education providers more independence to allow them to set more inclusive entry requirements to nursing and midwifery programmes. The consultation is open until midday on 21 September 2022.

Fit note guidance

New guidance has been published to help doctors, nurses, occupational therapists, pharmacists and physiotherapists to make the best use of the fit note to support the health and wellbeing of patients. It provides information on completing each section of the fit note, including the reassessment box, comments section and return to work tick boxes, and uses illustrative case studies to give real world examples.

Online learning for eating disorders

Health Education England has worked in partnership with experts by experience, NHS England and NHS Improvement and the charity Beat to launch online eating disorder learning. The elearning compromises of two sessions for GPs and other primary care clinicians, that take approximately 30 to 40 minutes to complete, at the learner's own pace.

Immunisation CPD study day

Join us in London on 14th September 2022 for a free CPD nursing conference dedicated to advancing the practice of nurses involved in delivering immunisation and vaccinations. The event is chaired by Dr George Kassianos with talks from expert speakers including Dr Catherine Heffernan, Helen Bedford, and Helen Donovan. The programme will include how to deal with incomplete immunisation status, improving uptake of shingles vaccination, 2022 flu programme and vaccination.
