The trials of menopause symptoms in summer

Abstract

Well, summer is finally here and for some it is welcomed; for others, it's definitely not!

Don't get me wrong I love the sunshine and being outdoors, with at least factor 30 on, but at work it's a different story.

No air conditioning, limited fresh air and 15 years into my menopause with daily ‘Tropical Moments’, the heat affects my concentration amongst other irritations!

I am lucky that I no longer wear a uniform, but what about all of you, how are you coping?

For some its just a short burst of heat, for all of us peri/post-menopausal women its ongoing. Sorry male GPNs, the research is still not indicating you go through the same process! But happy to proved wrong.

If we worked in a trust, or cooperative organisation, menopause would be in its mission statement, and or work handbook. However HR services are at best limited, and for some non-existent, in general practice.

Has anyone read the NHSE guidance supporting women experiencing the menopause?
