Happy Autumn all, I hope you had an opportunity to take time out and enjoy the brief blasts of sunshine.

I cannot believe it's that time again already, flu and COVID-19 season comes around so quickly or am I just getting old!

I’m sure many of you have been asked to lead, manage, or take part in the flu/covid vaccinations with many delivering this service in patients’ homes.

Were you part of the pre-discussions? did you have an opportunity to share your past experiences and your expertise in this area? Do you feel prepared?

We would love to know.

As many of us know the GPN role is at risk of being diluted even further by changes proposed to the NHS workforce. Although we are required to provide support to new vaccinators and new starters, we receive no additional benefit or recognition for this. And with the addition of many new roles in general practice, and the risk of deskilling the expertise of GPNs, how do we ensure patients are not losing the continuity of care that GPNs provide?

Please take a few minutes to check how your QNI is supporting GPNs in Scotland: https://www.qnis.org.uk/ England, Northern Ireland, and Wales: https://qni.org.uk

As always, we want to hear from you. Please share with us what is working well, any hints and tips and what is not so working well. We look forward to hearing from you.
